Help with Story Artist, and how to get in touch.

Get in touch

Email [email protected] with questions, problems or ideas. In the app, Help > Send Feedback opens a new email to the same address. If something has gone wrong, it helps to say which version of the app and of macOS you're using (Story Artist > About Story Artist shows the app version).

Help in the app

Choose Help > Story Artist Help (Command-?) for a guide to the basics: making a project, adding pictures, numbering shots, notes and markup, exporting, and saving and backups. Help > Keyboard Shortcuts lists every shortcut. To try things out safely, choose Help > Open the Sample Project.

Common questions

What do I need to run it?

A Mac running macOS 15 Sequoia or later.

Where are my projects saved?

Wherever you choose. Each project is a single file ending in .storyartist, which you can move, copy and back up like any other file. Pictures you add are copied into the project, so your original files are never changed.

I deleted something by mistake.

Undo (Command-Z) goes back as far as you need while the project is open. Deleted scenes and frames also go to File > Recently Deleted, where you can restore them.

Something went wrong with a project. Can I get an earlier version back?

Yes. Story Artist keeps a backup every 10 minutes while you work (the last 20 are kept). Choose File > Restore from Backup.

Can I share a board with people who don't have the app?

Yes. File > Export saves a PDF or a set of pictures that anyone can open.

Does it work on iPhone or iPad?

Not yet. Story Artist is on Mac first, and iPhone and iPad versions are planned.
